CSRT Project Receives Additional Funding!...Read More.

WELCOME

The Ontario Radiation Therapy Advanced Practice group (ORTAP) was formed in 2003 by a group of Radiation Therapy practitioners, including managers and educators. We organised a successful educational symposium in September 2003 that highlighted possible directions for advanced practice in the province and we were interested in acting as advocates to move the profession forward.

In early 2004, after being adopted by Cancer Care Ontario (CCO), we submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) for funding for a pilot project to "field test" some advanced roles in Ontario. This project is called AP4RT. We also added several external stakeholder representatives (CAMRT, OAMRT, CMRTO) at this time.

In late 2006, the APRT project was completed, and the final report submitted to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.  Following deliberations and several meetings, the next steps for the Project were established.  In March 2007, the APRT Project team was awarded additional funding to continue their work and the "Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapy Demonstration Project" was born.
