Between 2004-2006, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) provided funding for the Advanced Practice for Radiation Therapists (APRT) Development Project. This project was designed to examine the feasibility of developing advanced practice roles in radiation therapy. In March 2006, based on positive results of the APRT Development Project, the team was awarded additional funding to continue their work. At that time, as part of the HealthForceOntario initiative, the MOHLTC used the title Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist (CSRT) to describe the new pilot role for advanced practice radiation therapists in Ontario.
