Phase II of the Advanced Practice for Radiation Therapy Project is complete! The seven pilot project investigators have completed their data collection and submitted the final reporting of their findings. This represents a huge amount of work on behalf of our investigators: - Caroline Davey - Princess Margaret Hospital (Toronto)
- Debra Gallinger - Juravinski Cancer Centre (Hamilton)
- Carol Gillies - Toronto-Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre (Toronto)
- Lori Holden - Toronto-Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre (Toronto)
- Lynda Jackson - Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario at KGH (Kingston)
- Valerie Kelly - Princess Margaret Hospital (Toronto)
- Julie Stanford - Toronto-Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre (Toronto)
With the close of the project, the work for the Project Oversight Committee (POC) ramps up dramatically. On May 29th and 30th 2006, the POC held its project evaluation meetings in downtown Toronto. On the first day, each investigator presented the results of their work for the committee and the group undertook a thorough review of the regulatory and legislative issues that may present themselves. Day Two was spent synthesizing all the work and starting the preparation of the final report due to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) in November. With the recent announcement of the Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist in May 2006, the POC hopes to submit the report of recommendations earlier than required in hopes that the next steps can be implemented as soon as possible. Once the final report has been accepted and approved by the MOHLTC, we will post the information here. Stay tuned!
